BRUSSELS, Aug. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- European Union (EU)
quotas for nine out of ten categories of Chinese textiles have almost used
up,the European Commission said here on Tuesday.
On Monday, Bras, flax yarn and T-shirts became the latest Chinese textile imports into the EU to hit their annual
ceilings agreed in June between the EU and China, after quotas for blouses, men's
trousers and pullovers were met earlier this month.
However, figures issued on Tuesday by the EU
executive show that quotas for dresses were 94 percent full, bed linen almost 88
percent, table and kitchen linen 77 percent.
The exception is the quota for cotton fabrics, which
was only 36 percent full.
Since July, the EU has re-introduced quotas for ten
categories of Chinese textile imports.
Due to the exhaustion of the quotas, millions of
Chinese textiles imports have been piled up at European ports without a licensee
to come in, resulting in huge loss of EU textile traders and retailers. Enditem
