"Red Eye" opened in second place with 16.1 million dollars and last week's leader -- "Four Brothers" -- slipped to third, grossing 12.4 million dollars.

"Wedding Crashers" (8 million dollars) was fourth and "The Skeleton Key" (7.7 million dollars) came in fifth.

As has been the case most of the year, movie revenues were down when compared with the same period a year earlier.

The top dozen films generated a combined 98.8 million dollars from Friday to Sunday in the United States and Canada, a drop of 2.66 percent from the 101.5 million dollars grossed by the top 12 movies a year earlier. Enditem
