BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- Steven Spielberg's latest blockbuster "War of the Worlds" is slated to open in the Chinese mainland on 25th August.

The publisher said that no violence and bloodshed scenes will be cut for the screening but suggested that kids should enter cinemas with their parents.

This film has pocketed nearly 600 million dollors in box office takings across the world. The debuting day takings in Hong Kong reached 1.79 million HK dollars.

About 350 copies of the film will be sent to cinemas across China.

Starring Tom Cruise, it is a contemporary retelling of H.G. Wells's seminal classic. The sci-fi adventure thriller reveals the extraordinary battle for the future of humankind through the eyes of one American family fighting to survive it.
