KABUL, Aug. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Two US embassy officials have been injured in a roadside bomb attack near Kabul on Sunday.

The two US officials suffered minor injuries and were discharged from hospital after receiving first aid, said Lou Fintor, spokesman for the US embassy, refusing to give more details.

According to Afghan officials, the blast occurred in Paghman district, west of the capital.

Earlier in the day, four US soldiers were killed and three were wounded in an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan.

Taliban, who vowed to derail the historic parliamentary election slated on Sept. 18, has intensified attacks against the Afghan government and US troops. Over 800 people, including US and ANA troops, insurgents and civilians have been killed in the violence. Enditem
