GAZA, Aug. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Wednesday vowed revenge for a Jewish settler's killing of three Palestinians near the Shiloh settlement in the West Bank.

Hamas spokesman Musheer al-Masri told Xinhua that "this crime would never pass without punishment that would be equal to the holiness of the Palestinian blood."

Asher Weisgan, 38, a Jewish driver from Shvut Rahel in the West Bank, killed three people and wounded three others Wednesday afternoon when he opened fire on a group of Palestinians in the industrial area of the West Bank settlement of Shiloh, said media reports.

He asked a security guard for a cup of water in his car and then stole the guard's weapon and shot dead or wounded the Palestinian workers, added the reports.

The Hamas spokesman denounced that "the Zionist enemy is fully responsible for this massacre, and it is putting the lives of its soldiers and settlers in danger."

It is the second attack on Palestinians and "such massacres areaiming at rescuing the enemy's government from the internal political crisis that it is suffering from," said the spokesman."This massacre also aims at attracting the world's attention following the defeat of the enemy in Gaza," al-Masri said, vowing revenge for the shooting.
