CAIRO, Aug. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Egyptian security forces have arrested another three
suspects linked to the July 23 Sharm el-Sheikh bombings, Egypt's semi-official
Al Ahram Arab daily reported Sunday.
"Egypt's security agencies uncovered the terrorist cell which carried out
the Sharm el-Sheikh bombings on July 23 and three people were arrested," the
report said, adding that search is underway for the others.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces raided a Palestinian-owned farm in
Al-Arish, some 260 km northeast of the capital Cairo.
They uncovered a ton of explosives and detained a guard on the farm who led
the police to the other suspects, said the report.
The three were suspected of helping and preparing for the bombings.
A string of deadly bombings rocked the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on
July 23, killing at least 64 people.
Suspecting the attacks were carried out by a home grown terrorist cell in
the Sinai area with international support, Egyptian security forces have since
launched a massive manhunt in the region.
On Friday, two Egyptian policemen were wounded in a separate incident near
the Ismailia city, some 120 km northeast of Cairo, ina shootout with a group of
armed men.
Two suspects, a man and a woman, have been arrested
with possible links to the Sharm el-Sheikh attacks, police said.
