Related: Iran: IAEA resolution "politically motivated"
VIENNA, Aug 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The board of governors
of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) unanimously approved a
resolution on Thursday urging Iran to halt all nuclear work it resumed earlier
this week.
IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said the resolution had been "adopted without a vote, by
consensus."
The resolution, drafted by the European trio France,
Britain and Germany, expressed "serious concern" at Iran's resumption of nuclear
work, but did not call for Iran's case to be referred to the UN Security
Council, which has the power to impose sanctions.
However, European Union diplomats warned that they
would push for Iran to be reported to the UN Security Council if it insists on
nuclear programs. Enditem |
