GAZA, Aug. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti called on
the Palestinians on Wednesday to organize large-scale cerebrations for the
imminent Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the northern West Bank.
Barghouti's appeal was contained in a letter sent to the Palestinian
prisoner's club. He also hoped that 2006 will be the year of liberating all the
Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.
Barghouti hailed the Israeli withdrawal as a result of the Intifada
(uprising) and of the Palestinian resistance.
"The withdrawal is a result of the suffering of thousands of martyrs,
prisoners and deportees," said Barghouti's letter.
He also said that the Palestinian willpower prevailed over the Israeli
leaders belief that power and colonialism would remove the people's right of
freedom.
The letter also said the international and regional efforts mustbe given a
chance to end the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and if this was not
achieved our choice of resistance would exist.
Barghouti insisted on a link between the Israeli withdrawal and the release
of prisoners in the occupied territories in accordance with the international
laws as well as Fourth Geneva Convention. Enditem
