BAGHDAD, Aug. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- A US Marine was killed in action in Iraq's western flashpoint city of Ramadi, the US military said in a statement on Tuesday.

    The Marine assigned to the 2nd Marine Division was killed by small arms fire in Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, the statement said.

    The name of the killed soldier was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

    About 1,820 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003. Enditem
