BEIJING, Aug. 9 -- Palestinian security forces on
Monday afternoon freed two foreigners that work for the UN Agency for
Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and their Palestinian driver who were kidnapped
earlier by unkown armed men in the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis.
After more than one hour of kidnapping, the two
foreigners, a Briton and a Swede, were released and taken to safety by
Palestinian police who stormed the kidnappers' hideout in a local refugee camp,
officials and witnesses said.
They said that the UN workers were abducted while
driving in a vehicle which was intercepted and hijacked by the gunmen in the
centre of Khan Yunis.
