TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran on Monday resumed work in the uranium conversion facilities in the central city Isfahan shortly after the UN nuclear watchdog inspectors arrived there, state television reported.

    "The uranium conversion facility in Isfahan has started its activities under IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) supervision," Mohammad Saeedi, deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, confirmed to reporters.

    Earlier in the day, a team of inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived at the facilities and were preparing to install surveillance equipment on the site.

    "A team of inspectors of the IAEA are scheduled to arrive in Isfahan on Monday, and after their extra surveillance equipment isinstalled, we will resume the work there," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters on Sunday.

    Tehran had threatened to resume the highly sensitive nuclear work since the end of July when it began to press the European Union (EU) to present the promised nuclear proposal.

    The European trio of Britain, France and Germany submitted the nuclear proposal, urging Tehran to accept it and to withdraw from the sensitive resumption, or to face a referral of the case to the UN Security Council.

    Iran, after scrutinies, termed the proposal as unacceptable andvowed to resume the conversion work after the IAEA inspectors would be in place. Enditem
