RIYADH, Aug. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that its premises in Riyadh and two consulates will be closed for two days due to a threat, the embassy said in a statement.

The statement advised US citizens to maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase security awareness.

Last month, the United States warned of possible attacks in Saudi Arabia.

The al Qaida-linked militants have launched a bombing campaign in the kingdom since 2003, killing nearly 100 foreign nationals and Saudi civilians. Enditem
