GAZA, Aug. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- At least eight Palestinians were wounded Saturday morning in a mysterious explosion in one of houses in Islayeh area east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, medics said.

Moaweya Hasaneen, chief of emergency of the Public Health Ministry, said eight people suffered burns and wounds in a mysterious explosion inside their house.

Hasaneen said three of them were seriously wounded and were taken to al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City for surgery, adding that the rest were transferred to Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis town.

Meanwhile, Palestinian medical sources said on Saturday that Israeli troops wounded a Palestinian man near the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.

The sources said Israeli soldiers stationed in their outpost near the settlement of Morag opened fire at the house of 23-year-old Nihad al-Qadi and wounded him.

Al-Qadi was seriously wounded in the left thigh and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Tawfik Abu Khousa, Interior Ministry spokesman, told reporters that al-Qadi, a Rafah resident, was wounded while he was standing near his house when Israeli soldiers opened fire at residents'houses. Enditem
