KUNMING, Aug. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit an area between Huize County of Yunnan Province and Huidong County of Sichuan Province in southwest China at 10:14p.m. Friday, according to China's State Seismological Bureau.
The epicenter was located at a mountain township named Nagu in Huize County in Yunnan, about 26.6 degrees north latitude and 103.1 degrees east longitude.
The earthquake flattened many houses with no casualties reported, said Luo Zhiming, an official of the county government.
There are about 80,000 people living near the epicenter where traffic and communications are very poor. Enditem |
