PARIS, Aug. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Intense forest fires broke out Thursday in southern France's Carnoux and Aubagne regions, according to reports from a French TV station.

(AFP) | The fires broke out in a forested areas to the south of the regions on Thursday afternoon, and spread swiftly, according to the TV report. More than 600 firefighters were immediately dispatched to fight the blaze.
Due to the complicated land form and strong wind in the area, however, the fire was still raging out of control Thursday night. Five firefighters have suffered slight injuries thus far.
At the request of the fire brigade, part of the region's electricity supply was cut off. The express railway between Marseilles and Nice was also suspended.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Enditem
