Threatening note on US passenger plane causes scare
www.chinaview.cn 2005-08-06 04:30:30

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A threatening note found on a US passenger plane caused a scare Friday, prompting authorities to keep it away from the terminal after it landed in the southern American city of Houston, Texas.

US Homeland Security Department officials were quoted by Local TV channels as saying that a passenger alerted flight attendants after finding a note which said there was a bomb on board.

After landing, the Boeing 737, with 136 passengers and five crew on board, was immediately diverted to an isolated section of Houston Hobby Airport.

All passengers were safely evacuated at the airport and were later questioned by security officers while a search was being conducted on the plane with bomb-sniffing dogs.

So far no arrest has been made with connections to the incident.

The flight had departed from Dallas and was destined to Corpus Christi after making a stopover in Houston. All the three cities are in Texas.

The incident happened at a time when security of the public transport system caused more concern in the United States after the July bomb attacks on London subways. Enditem
