OTTAWA, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Both black box recorders have been recovered
from Air France flight, which skidded off a runway and burst into flames on
Tuesday at Toronto Pearson airport, an official said on Wednesday.
" I can confirm that the black boxes have been recovered," said Steve Shaw,
spokesman for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which manages Canada's
busiest airport, at a news conference.
The black boxes were to be sent to Ottawa and any communication between the
pilots and the control tower or other recorded information was to be downloaded
at a lab in Ottawa.
A team of between 10 and 15 investigators met all night as they mapped out
a plan for examining every detail of how the A340 managed to overshoot a runway
by 200 meters Tuesday afternoon.
The passenger jet, which landed in the midst of a violent thunderstorm, was
torn into three pieces after the crash. Fortunately all 309 on aboard survived
the most serious accident at Pearson since 1978, only 43 people were slightly
injured. Enditem
