PARIS, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chief Executive Officer of Air France
Jean-Cyril Spinetta flew to Toronto on Wednesday shortly after one of the
company's A340 passenger jets crashed in the Canadian city.
"I am leaving with the director general of air operations and will arrive in
Toronto this afternoon to personally make sure that all the operations are
being carried out in a coordinated way," the CEO told a news conference at Paris
Charles de Gaulle airport before his departure.
He said after arrival in Toronto, he would personally inspect the
carbonized shell of the crashed plane.
On Tuesday evening, the AF 358 airliner, which departed from Paris earlier
with 309 passengers aboard, overshot the runway at Toronto international airport
and caught fire after landing in a storm.
All the 309 people on board managed to escape via emergency slides, with
only 43 minor injuries reported.
Spinetta said the Airbus A340 aircraft left Paris with no sign of any
technical problems. Enditem
