RAMALLAH, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement and Israel's Labor Party have agreed to form a joint committee to follow up the intended Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and West Bank, a Fatah official announced on Wednesday.
Abbas Zaki, a member of Fatah central committee, told reporters that delegations of Fatah and the Labor Party recently met in Tel Aviv to tackle the future of the Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement.
The meeting was initiated by the leaders of Fatah movement to hear the Labor's points of view regarding the implementation of the disengagement plan, Zaki said.
The Fatah delegation clearly explained their view concerning the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and achieving a full Israeli withdrawal from the territories occupied in 1967, Zaki said.
The two sides have agreed to hold another meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Zaki added. Enditem
