LUSAKA, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa said here Wednesday his government will soon deport London bombing suspect Haroon Rashid Aswat to Britain.
"We have held discussions with the governments of Britain and the United States. It has been finally agreed that this man, as a Briton, will be deported to his country," Mwanawasa said at a press conference at the State House.
"I will not say when this deportation is going to take place, but it will be very soon," he said.
Aswat, a British national, was arrested by Zambian authorities on July 20 in Lusaka. He is suspected to be involved in the July 7 London bombings that killed 52 people as well as the four suicide bombers.
Mwanawasa also said Aswat, 31, was arrested for violating immigration rules, and it was during interrogation that his link to the London bombing was found. Enditem
