ZHENGZHOU, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Rescuers on Wednesday morning saved two miners who were missing in the gas spill out accident happening Tuesday in Xingfa Coal Mine, central China's Henan Province, in which 24 were confirmed dead.

The source with the provincial administration of coal mine safety said the accident took place at around 10:30 p.m. when 43 miners were working down in the private mine, located in Yuzhou City's Wenshu Township.

Seventeen miners managed to escape and 24 were choked to death when gas spilling out.

Preliminary investigation shows that the accident was caused by illegal operation while further probe is still going on.

Xingfa is a private-run colliery with an annual production capacity at 60,000 tons. Enditem
