UNSC mourns death of late King Fahd

    UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council mourned on Tuesday the death of Saudi Arabian King Fahd Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.

    In a statement read out by Ambassador Kenzo Oshima of Japan, which holds the Presidency of the 15-nation body for the month of August, the Council expressed its heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Saudi Arabia, following King Fahd's death over the weekend.

    King Fahd "devoted himself wholeheartedly both to the service of his country and to the promotion of peace and understanding in his region and internationally," Oshima said. Enditem
