5 killed in Mexican cockfight arena blast

    MEXICO CITY, Aug. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- At least five killed, 35 injured when two grenades exploded in a cockfight arena in Mexican city of Tonala, local authorities said on Monday.

    The explosion occurred in the early hours of Monday inside the cockfight arena where about 300 people gathered, according to preliminary reports.

    Police agents found bullet shells, and two grenade safety pins,the reports said, adding that two of the victims died on the spot and three more died in hospitals.

    Police found blood and an AK-47 assault rifle on two abandoned trucks outside the arena.

    Police have arrested six suspects, according to local reports. Enditem
