SHENYANG, Aug. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The Ministry of Railways said Monday that the derailment of train K127 from Xi'an to Changchun on Sunday was caused by the failure of signal facilities.

The train collided with a cargo train with five compartments derailing at 7:52 p.m. on the railroad between northeast China's cities of Changchun and Dalian.

The source with the Ministry of Railways said the cable box wasstolen on the railway's Xinchengzi-Xintaizi Section, where the accident occurred, and it failed the signal facilities.

The stewards on the train were unaware of the situation and didnot stop the train.

Five passengers were confirmed dead in the derailment and 30 others were injured, according to the latest information from the ministry.

Earlier, six were reportedly killed in the accident.

The accident also caused a traffic halt on the changchun-Dalianline, but the railway has resumed normal operation since Monday afternoon. Enditem
