RAMALLAH, Aug. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli army forces arrested on Monday five members of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement that are active in the West Bank, Palestinian security sources reported.
The sources said that the Israeli soldiers arrested two Jihad members in the area of Bethlehem, and another two near the southern West Bank town of Hebron.
The fifth member of the movement was arrested near the town of Al-Beera near Ramallah, added the sources.
The Israeli army has been carrying out arrests among the Jihad members while the movement had repeatedly warned that the current truce would completely collapse if Israel continues targeting the movement leaders and members in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Israel Radio reported that Palestinian militants had fired a homemade rocket at southern Israel and one mortar shell at a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip.
The radio added that militants also opened fire at an Israeli army post in southern Gaza Strip, but there were no injuries reported in the three attacks. Enditem |
