LONDON, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Metropolitan police in London made three arrests Friday at two different locations as they searched for suspects linked to the botched July 21 bombing attacks against the capital's transit system.

    Two of the three arrested were reported to be among the three suspects who were at large and wanted for involvement in the failed bomb attacks, the Sky news said.

    According to the Sky news, one of them is thought to be the manwho tried to detonate a bomb at Oval station and the other is thought to be responsible for attempting to blow up the number 26 bus. This report has not been confirmed.

    The police confirmed a man and a women had been arrested at theLiverpool street station after a seal-off and the evacuation of passengers.

    The other arrest was made during a raid by the police in the Notting Hill area in west London.

    One witness said a man dressed in a white forensic overall had been taken away from the neighbourhood in an unmarked police car. Suspects arrested are often covered up in this way by the police to preserve evidence.

    Witnesses also reported at least one armed stand-off in which the police shouted at a man in a flat, ordering him to take off his clothes and come out. The man was identified as "Muhammad."

    Eyewitnesses said they heard three gun shots and a large explosion as officers wearing gas masks besieged two flats appeared to be adjacent to each other. The Notting Hill neighborhood was still cordoned off by the police and residents were evacuated.

    Police are seeking three men in connection with the attempted July 21 bombing attacks in London. The failed attacks at tube stations and a bus were foiled simply because the explosives did not go off. Enditem
