GAZA, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian security sources reported on Thursday that a Palestinian woman and a child were seriously wounded by Israeli army fire in southern Gaza Strip.

Israeli soldiers stationed at their outpost of Tal Zu'rub on the Egypt-Gaza border opened fire haphazard at the western area of southern Gaza town of Rafah late Wednesday, said the sources.

Medical sources at the hospital of Abu Youssef al-Najjar in the town confirmed that a 4-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman sustained serious injuries.

"The child identified as Nada Abu Siam was shot in the head by Israeli army fire while she was at home," said the medical sources.Enditem
