www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-28 16:12:36

GAZA, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A Palestinian executed Wednesday evening in Gaza City admitted on hanging stage that he committed another homicide, according to a Palestinian interior ministry statement Thursday.

The statement said that execution was implemented against the murderer Ra'sed al-Mughrabi, resident of Jabalia refugee camp, for committing a homicide one year ago.

A Palestinian court had convicted al-Mughrabi of being involved in first-degree murder, which he confessed before the judges that he committed the crime.

Since the beginning of this year, 54 murders had been committed, and more than 50 Palestinians sentenced to death for murder are waiting for rule of appeal, according to the interior ministry, Families of victims have repeatedly marched in the streets of the Gaza Strip urging Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to enforce the law and execute those involved in killing their children.

Abbas and his interior minister Nasser Yousef have vowed that the security deterioration in the Palestinian territories would be over soon, and law and order should be implemented. Enditem
