NASA to suspend future space shuttle flights

WASHINGTON, July 27 (Xinhuanet) -- NASA said Wednesday evening that it would suspend future space shuttle flights because foam debris that brought down Columbia is still an unsolved problem.

NASA made the decision after a large piece of foam insulation broke off from the shuttle Discovery's fuel tank during Tuesday's lift off.

Although the foam did not hit the space shuttle, it did highlight a huge problem that NASA thought had been fixed after the Columbia disaster.

"We won't be able to fly again" until the problem is solved, said shuttle program manager Bill Parsons at a briefing in Houstonspace center. Enditem
