Israeli armored vehicles raids Jenin
www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-27 19:44:30

RAMALLAH, July 27 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 10 Israeli armored vehicles and jeeps raided the northern West Bank city of Jenin Wednesday afternoon, Palestinian security sources and residents said.

The armored vehicles rolled into an eastern neighborhood of the town amid intensive gunfire, frightening away residents and keeping shops to shut their doors, they said.

Dozens of Palestinian militants including members of the al-AqsaMartyrs Brigades, an armed wing of the ruling Fatah movement, confronted the Israeli soldiers with gunfire, said the security sources, adding one militant was shot and wounded during the clash.

The Israeli soldiers stormed and searched several buildings in the neighborhood and were still in the area, the sources said. Enditem
