CAIRO, July 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Several explosions rocked the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh overnight, killing at least 20 people and injuring dozens of others, police sources said on Saturday.
A large explosion shook the resort at first overnight and other explosions followed later, apparently from the nearby resort of Naama Bay, said the sources.
They added that the first explosion, shortly after 1 am local time (2200 GMT Friday), was heard more than one km away. It started a fire and smoke billowed over the town.
About minutes later, other explosions were audible from the direction of Naama Bay which has dozens of luxury hotels popular with divers and holiday makers from Europe.
