Chinese state councilor meets Ukrainian guest

    BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhuanet) -- "Ukraine is willing to work with China to promote mutually-beneficial cooperation in every field and make new achievements one after another," said Petro Poroshenko, head of National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine

He made the remarks during his meeting with Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan here Friday.

    Tang said China and Ukraine have witnessed good momentum for development in bilateral relations and fruitful results of win-win cooperation since the two countries established their diplomatic ties.

    He said China is satisfied with the growth of bilateral relations and it is the set policy of the Chinese government to enhance long-term friendly and mutual cooperation with Ukraine.

    "China is willing to deepen traditional friendship, enhance mutual political trust and enlarge practical cooperation with Ukraine on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, in a bid to lift the all-round friendly Sino-Ukrainian relations to a new high," he said.

    Poroshenko noted that Ukraine attaches great importance to its relations with China, saying that it is in the fundamental interests of both sides to enlarge exchanges, strengthen cooperation, enhance mutual trust and bring benefits to the two peoples.

    There is a huge potential for the two countries to cooperate with each other, he said.

    He thanked the Chinese government for having supported over thepast years Ukraine's efforts to safeguard national independence, sovereignty, and oppose secession.

    He also vowed to continue its firm support for China's policy of safeguarding national reunification and territorial integrity. Enditem
