WARSAW, July 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Poland supports
Ukraine's efforts to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the
European Union (EU), Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Zalucki said Monday.
Zalucki made the remarks at the second session of the Polish-Ukrainian parliamentary assembly.
Discussion within the EU on a new round of
enlargement was deeply affected after the bloc was plunged into crisis by France
and the Netherlands' rejection of the EU constitution treaty, he said, adding
that the enlargement process should not come to a standstill.
Ukraine's status of market economy should be
recognized in a foreseeable future and Poland supports the country's bid to join
the World Trade Organization, Zalucki said.
The Polish-Ukrainian parliamentary assembly, in
operation since2003, is comprised of 40 parliament members from the two
countries. Enditem
