Lebanese PM-designate offers new government draft
www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-16 09:06:06

BEIRUT, July 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Fouad al-Seniora on Friday offered to President Emile Lahoud a new draft of a 24-member cabinet without any loyals to leader of the Free Patriotic Movement Michel Aoun.

Seniora said Lahoud asked for more time to study the proposed lineup.

He voiced hope the new cabinet would be approved to make a breakthrough in the face of security, political and economic challenges facing Lebanon.

"I offered a new version of the cabinet consisting of 24 ministers, which I believe has the backing of over 100 members of the parliament," Seniora said.

Lahoud met on Thursday with Seniora to discuss the new cabinet formation.

An earlier proposed lineup was disapproved by Aoun and Shiite Hezbollah and Amal movements. Enditem
