NASA says shuttle launch no earlier than late next week
www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-16 02:20:11

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida, the United States, July 15 (Xinhuanet) --The liftoff of Discovery is still possible in the July launch window that runs until July 31, but will come no earlier than late next week, NASA spokesman Allard Beutel said Friday afternoon.

He said the NASA engineers need more time to resolve the technical problem that suspended the launch of Discovery Wednesday. There is currently no plan involving a rollback of Discovery from the launch pad to the vehicle assembly building.

A faulty sensor indicating the low level of liquid hydrogen in the shuttle's external fuel tank caused the delay of the first shuttle flight since the 2003 Columbia disaster.

The US space agency is now having 12 engineering teams at work to look at every aspect of the launch glitch and try to seek a solution.

NASA's management team is meeting Friday afternoon to review what the technicians have got from their analysis. Enditem
