Chinese beer safe: watchdog

    BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The formaldehyde content in Chinese beer is lower than the standard of the World Health Organization, thus Chinese beer is safe to drink, said a report released by China's quality watchdog here Friday.

    The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine spot-checked 157 products from 136 enterprises, including Tsingtao Beer and Yanjing Beer, in response to recent media reports that Chinese beer contains high levels of formaldehyde. Enditem
