DPRK's return to 6-party talks no linking with China's
aid
The decision of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
(DPRK) to return to the six-party talks should not be linked with the aid given
by China, Liu said at the press conference.
China and DPRK maintain a normal nation-to-nation
relation with regular economic and trade exchanges, said Liu, and China has
offered aid to DPRK for the nation and its people to tide over difficulties and
develop its economy and society.
"However, I do not think such aid should be linked
with DPRK's decision to return to new round of six-party talks," he said.
China and DPRK enjoy a good-neighborly cooperative
relationship, and both countries are very pleased with the relationship, he
said.
"The two countries will continue to make active
efforts for the development of bilateral relations and the fundamental common
interests of the people of the two countries," the spokesman added.
Israel's building of separation wall opposed
The building of the separation wall will go against
the efforts made by the international community and all sides concerned to
promote peace in the region, said the spokesman Liu Jianchao.
The Israeli cabinet decided on Sunday to set Sept. 1
as the completion date for the building of a barrier around Jerusalem, whose
status remains disputed.
Israel insists that the barrier will help fend off
Palestinian militant attacks on Israeli targets while the Palestinians see it as
a land grab.
Liu said China opposes Israel's building of such a
wall in Palestine's occupied territory. China's attitude toward this issueis
"consistent" and "clear", said Liu.
Spanish PM to visit China
Spanish Prime Minister Jose
Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will pay an official visit to China from July 21 to 23 at
the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Liu announced.
During the visit, top Chinese leaders including Hu
Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao and Jia Qinglin will meet or hold talks with the
Spanish prime minister respectively. The two sides will have an exchange of
views on bilateral relation and other issues of common concern, Liu said.
"China and Spain will also sign a number of
cooperation agreements involving economy, trade and culture," he told a routine
news conference. "Meanwhile we will organize relative activities like seminars
on economy and trade."
He noted that China and Spain have witnessed a rapid
and sound development in bilateral relations in recent years.
"The two countries have enjoyed increasingly
deepening cooperation of mutual benefits and frequent high-level exchanges,"Liu
said.
The bilateral trade volume of last year reached 7.223
billion US dollars. The figure of the first five months this year reached 3.981
billion US dollars, up 48.3 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, China and Spain have carried out
increasing exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, education,
science and technology, administration and justice.
"We are pleased with the bilateral relations," Liu
said. "We believe the upcoming visit will play a positive role in upgradingthe
friendly relations for the two countries." Enditem
