Bomb attacks on London have no link with religion: Bangladeshi FM

DHAKA, July 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Bangladesh Saturday observed that the barbaric and dastardly bomb attacks on London had no link with any religion and any backlash on any faith would be unfortunate.

"Global leadership should understand that this has nothing to do with religion .... This is simply and purely an act of terrorism, and the perpetrators should be treated as terrors and brought to justice," Bangladeshi Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan was quoted Saturday by local private news agency UNB as saying.

Denouncing the detonating of Thursday's blasts in central London as heinous, barbaric and cowardly act, he said, "This is a global disaster for all religions, faiths and colors. All should work unitedly to bring the perpetrators to book."

Talking about a fear of backlash on Muslim community in the British capital, the foreign minister said, "There is no reason for that. They are an enlightened society. I don't anticipate such kind of situation from that enlightened society."

"Backlash on any color or race would equally be unfortunate," he said.

Multiple bomb blasts ripped through three underground railway trains and a bus during Thursday morning's rush-hour, leaving over 50 people dead and some 700 injured. Enditem
