Palestinian militants fire rockets at Gaza settlements
www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-09 19:05:29

GAZA, July 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian militants fired four rockets at the Israeli settlements of Neveh Dekalim and Geni Tal in the Gaza Strip early Saturday, local Palestinian sources reported.

Militants of Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War), announced through loudspeakers that the shelling is a revenge for the killing a 13-year-old Palestinian in Beit Lakiya on Friday, said the sources.

Palestinian armed men also fired several homemade rockets at the Israeli settlements located in eastern Gaza city, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Palestinian medics at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis said two members of the Abu Reesh Brigades, one of the dominant Fatah movement's armed wings, were wounded when a mortar shell exploded as they were trying to launch it.

Israeli army spokesman claimed that a mortar shell was fired from the northern Gaza Strip at a settlement in the Negev area in southern Israel, causing no causalities.

Israeli soldiers foiled an attempt by four unarmed Palestinians to infiltrate into Israel from the Gaza Strip Saturday morning, said the spokesman.

The Israeli soldiers have foiled 82 infiltration attempts since the start of 2005, according to the spokesman. Enditem
