JOHANNESBURG, July 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The Johannesburg Security Exchange finished at a record high on Friday as world markets staged a defiant rally following Thursday's terrorist attacks in London.
The all share index closed at a best ever 14,457.8, up 1.09 percent on the day.
Resources rallied 1.66 percent, the platinum mining index jumped 1.44 percent and the gold mining index gained 0.14 percent. The all share industrial and financial indices firmed 1.03 percent and 0.33 percent respectively, but the banks index surrendered 0.46 percent.
On the all share index, 101 shares were up, 29 were unchanged and 29 were down. There were 31 advancers on the Top 40 index and only eight decliners, while two counters closed flat.
The all share index was up 1.5 percent for the week. It has gained 2.14 percent this month and 14.23 percent this year. Enditem |
