BEIJING, July 8 -- The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has strongly condemned the terror attacks on London's subway and bus systems.
In a statement issued Friday in Beijing, Secretary General of the organization, Zhang Deguang, said the London attack and recent terrorist activities in Central Asia indicated that "terrorism is a common threat and a serious challenge facing the international community."
He said the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is ready to make joint efforts with the international community to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organization founded in the Chinese economic hub of Shanghai on June 15, 2001, by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The SCO aims to promote political and economic cooperation between member countries and has set up a Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure to combat the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism.
