SINGAPORE, July 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Singapore Airlines (SIA) will increase its fuel surcharge on all passenger tickets from July 20, according to a Channel NewsAsia report on Thursday night.
The report quoted SIA as saying that the increase will help relieve growing operating costs due to the persistently high jet fuel price which has gone up to some 70 US dollars per barrel from48 US dollars per barrel a year ago.
SIA will add 2 US dollars to the present fuel surcharge of 10 US dollars for flights between Singapore and cities in Southeast Asian countries, while that for all other flights will be raised to 45 US dollars, up 50 percent over the current amount.
SilkAir, SIA's regional wing, will also raise its fuel surcharge to 45 US dollars for flights between Singapore and China, as well as between Singapore and India, and 12 US dollars will be applied to all other flights. Enditem |
