BAGHDAD, July 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Bahrain's top diplomat in Baghdad was wounded Tuesday when unknown gunmen ambushed him in downtown city, police said.
Hassan Malallah al-Ansari, the charge d'affaires of Bahrain's diplomatic mission to Iraq, was shot on his way to work at Harithiyah neighborhood in western Baghdad, a police officer at the scene told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
He was shot several bullets in his body, he said, adding that Ansari was evacuated to Yarmouk hospital to be treated of his wounds.
The injuries were not believed life-threatening, hospital sources said
