PARIS, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie recognized on Monday "an intense cooperation with the United States" to fight the terrorism, refusing to confirm or deny the existence of a secret intelligence base in Paris manned by French, US and other officers.
According to Washington Post, a top-secret center code-named Alliance Base has existed in the French capital since 2002 and involved teams of French, US, Canadian, British, German and Australian intelligence officers working together under the command of a French general.
Alliot-Marie said at the French LCI news channel that the report contained "some real things and some fantastical things."
"What is true is that we have had joint activities with the United States especially in the fight against terrorism," she said.
She said there were a great deal of contacts between the United States and France, however she refused to specify the structures of the organization of this cooperation.
"I can confirm that there is very intense cooperation in the fight against terrorism, particularly with the United States," she said. Enditem |
