BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture here Friday
said the bird flu outbreak in northwest China's Qinghai Province is "under
control."
Jia Youling, director general of the Veterinary Bureau of the ministry,
said migrant birds that have died of the disease have dropped to twenty a day
since June 8.
Altogether more than 6,000 migratory birds have died since the disease was
reported on May 4.
Jia said the ministry has reported the latest news to related international
organizations.
He said the Chinese government and local governments attach great
importance to the outbreak of the disease and have taken many measures to
prevent it from spreading.
No fowl or human beings are currently infected, he said. Enditem |
