BEIJING, July 1 -- Israeli forces have expelled dozens of Jewish extremists from a Gaza hotel. Israeli officials say it is part of the government's campaign to prevent far-right Jews obstructing Israel's pullout from Gaza and part of the West Bank, which begins in August.
With less than two months left before Israel begins its planned withdrawal from Gaza and part of the West Bank, more confrontation between Israeli troops and Jewish extremists.
On Thursday, hundreds of Israeli soldiers raided this seaside Gaza hotel where more than a hundred pullout opponents had holed up for weeks.
The extremists had declared they would never be taken out alive.
But the evacuation took only a few minutes. And no shots were fired.
Israeli officials say the operation could be a model for the pullout itself.
