| JERUSALEM, June 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Fresh fighting broke
out Thursday between the Lebanese Hezbollah militia and the Israeli army in
a disputed border area, Israeli military sources said.
Israel Defense Forces troops exchanged fire with a
group of Hezbollah fighters who crossed the Israel-Lebanon border, Israel Radio
reported.
One Hezbollah fighter was reported wounded in the
fighting and there were no casualties reported on the Israeli side. The fighting
was still underway, according to the radio.
The clashes occurred the day after the Shiite Muslim
Hezbollah guerrillas bombarded an Israeli army post in the disputed Shebaa Farms
area, killing an Israeli soldier and wounding three others, prompting Israeli
retaliatory artillery fire and air raids.
In the wake of the shootout, Israeli Ambassador to
the United Nations Dan Gillerman submitted a complaint to the UN Security
Council regarding the escalating violence on the border, Israeli Army Radio
reported early Thursday.

Hezbollah have carried out similar attacks against
Israeli army positions on the Israel-Lebanon border since the withdrawal of
Israeli troops from southern Lebanon in May 2000.
Hezbollah, a popular Lebanese armed group backed by
both Syria and Iran, has spearheaded a guerrilla war that helped end 18 years of
Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon.
The Shebaa Farms bordering Syria, Lebanon and Israel
remains disputed in status. The United Nations says Israel's withdrawal from
Lebanon is complete and the Shebaa Farms is Israeli-occupied Syrian land.
Lebanon, however, has claimed sovereignty over the area.
