High score students, don't party too much
www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-30 15:32:40

BEIJING, June 30 -- After the results of the college entrance exams came out, the top echalons have been chased by media like superstars. They were on TV and papers talking about their school experience, their secrets to success, and how they managed to achieve high marks and so on.

¡¡¡¡But according to Beijing-based paper the Mirror, some people have been carrying the game too far. In Northwest China's Shanxi Province, two top-ranking students in the exams were asked to dress up like ancient top scholars who excelled in imperial exams. As well the students virtually put on an ancient celebration ceremony which included writing poems, and leaving their calligraphy somewhere on a wall in an ancient garden, etc.

The paper criticized such kind of activity, saying society should not make too much fuss about the college entrance exams. It's just a necessary stage through which the students enter high learning institutions, not the gateway to fame and success.

The paper also said encouraging too much partying could mislead students into over-confidence as well as into believing that high score is everything.
