¡¡KABUL, June 29 (Xinhuanet) -- A US CH-47 helicopter carrying between 15 and 20 soldiers crashed in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday, but there was no information on casualties, according to the US military.

The US military said the cause of the crash and status of survivors is unknown so far, while Taliban has claimed to have shot down the aircraft.

The helicopter was transporting additional forces into an area in Kunar province to support US operations against insurgents.

The crash was the second of a Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan this year. In April, 18 Americans were killed as their helicopter went down in a sandstorm in southeastern Afghanistan.  Enditem
