ĦĦHANOI, June 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnamese footwear is likely to undergo dumping investigations by the European Union (EU), local newspaper Pioneer said Wednesday.
The EU intends to work with local authorities to find out real volumes of Vietnamese footwear exported to the block, representatives of the European Commission's Directorate General for Trade said, noting that if the footwear gains over 3 percent of the block's market share, it will be inspected for dumping.
Vietnam, which made footwear export turnovers of more than 2.6 billion US dollars last year, plans to reap 3.1-3.3 billion dollars from exporting footwear, mainly to the EU, the United States and Japan this year.
Local trade experts have recently said some Vietnamese exports, including textile, garments, woodwork, rubber, farm produce and seafood, are facing potential anti-dumping lawsuits.
Vietnamese exports underwent a total of 18 dumping investigations between 1994 and 2004. The EU has so far this year placed anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese fluorescent lamps and stainless steel fasteners. It is likely to impose an anti-dumping duty on imports of bicycles originating in Vietnam next month. Enditem |
